WOW!!!
This trip has been amazing!! Full of highs and lows (but mostly highs!)
We started out with the long plane ride, a night in Nairobi, and a relaxing New Years Eve/New Years Day (since it was a holiday, the hospital was rather quiet those days, so we used it to settle in and recover from the strong jet lag :)
The 5 of us from SUPT have been working with Henry Bilton, the physiotherapist here at Maua Methodist Hospital. He is such a great man and a wonderful teacher, we are all learning so much!! We spent Wednesday getting oriented, Thursday walking around with him and treating as a group, and Friday we split up into pairs and worked with loads of patients. We have been treating in the male and female medical wards, surgical wards, burn unit, pediatrics, plus outpatient with some orthopedic and lots of neurological rehab (mainly stroke). Tiffany has been working in the MCH (Community Health Department) screening babies, working with mothers, helping with admissions, and more. Next week we are planning to head out into the community together for some outreach ministry Monday and Tuesday. We are so excited!
I have been moved so much on this trip. God has most definitely been teaching me and using this experience to help me grow in so many ways. We are all having a blast and loving every minute of it! Please keep the prayers coming for strength, wisdom, and safety for the duration of the week. We'll write again soon!
Love always, Jordan & the team
